The letter arrived accompanied by a bunch of flowers: Canterbury Bells, Daffodils and Mignonette.

To the admirable Mrs Nell Gwynn,

I trust that you are well and favoured as ever.

I am writing to inform you that I have arrived at Windsor, and will be staying in the Octagonal Tower.

The Chelsey Veteran's Hospital continues to be a success in it's service to all members of the community, and it is my hope that something similar may be achieved here in Windsor.

While no reply was forthcoming, James would have noticed the fact that while some stuffy circles were weary of him, others were more open and Nell even send him a bottle of whiskey to celebrate his arrival. What was more, his place next season, she had assured him upon another occassion, in the Chelsea Hospital was assured.
