Mirtel Christabel didn’t know Rebecca and thereby couldn’t add anything to the conversation about her. So she simply smiled politely and thanked them. “I might like that I believe. You’re both very kind to look after me like that.”

“Her dress and her jewels are a lady’s armour and the fan, I suppose, shall do for a weapon. A lot could be said and done to improve one’s gear,” Mirtel offered in support to Cat’s claim of possible discussion ladies might have over a cup of tea. Every knight looked after his armour and weapons, so why shouldn’t ladies do the same when it came to their armour and weapons?

“In Scotland the men have a habit of wearing quilts as I've heard. Perhaps the gentlemen you shall allow entry to the shop should adhere to the dressing-code here in a manner similar to that?” Mirtel added further with an impisih smile, despite the pink rising to her cheek at her audacious suggestion. Of course it was likely that if Mirtel Christabel ever happened to come across a man wearing a kilt she would swoon into a dead faint on the spot and be able to only stutter once she came to.

“That sounds absolutely lovely,” Mirtel sighed once Cat told more about the teas she was planning to offer. The same smile was directed to James as well as he offered his services as a physician. “Thank you, Dr Winchester. I might take you up on that offer sooner than you might think,” Mirtel Christabel stated softly. Her ankle had been giving her trouble for the last two days. Of course, she would need to brace herself before admitting to a relatively young male doctor that it was her ankle giving her problems.

One brow raised at James' words regarding the men's fears. "Yes, of course, that's all we women have to talk about is you men," Cat teased. "Though I do not doubt that your name will be mentioned a time or two, good Doctor." She gave him a saucy grin and a wink before returning her features to a more placid expression. "As for inside information, well...we shall see. I think I might just be bribable." While her expression was placid, her eyes danced wickedly.

Mirtel's words on Scottish dress gained her a throaty laugh. "Milady, my husband made a splash at his first Ball last year by attending in a kilt. Trust me when I say that he did not look the least bit feminine." She suddenly remembered a conversation with Adam when they discussed him disguising himself in a dress and the image burst forth in her mind, leading to another peal of laughter. "A true Highlander would never appear a woman, thus would stick out sorely here." Of course, she was a true Highlander as well, but she hid that rather well.

"Well, if you need any recommendations, I heartily lend mine in regards to Dr. Winchester. I wouldn't have asked him to supply my shop with his remedies if I didn't trust him," she offered.

James smiled in amusement as Myrtle spoke of men in 'quilts' being allowed entry into the store. It was obvious that she had never seen a Scot in a kilt, and given the builds of the few Scotsmen that James had seen about court he doubted that you could describe them as looking feminine in a kilt; at least not if you wanted to live. On the other hand if a certain short, baby-faced doctor were given a shave and a dress to wear he might very well pass muster.

"I'm certain that you lovely ladies will have far more more interesting things to talk about than me." James replied tartly to Cat's claim that he would be a subject of gossip, expression indicating that he was mildly amused. "Practically any topic, in fact." He added, and sipped from his tea-cup.

As Myrtle accepted his offer James returned her smile. "My pleasurem Lady Myrtle. Please do contact me when you wish, through the Hospital is the most reliable way." He was often out and about but always came home and he also generally left word of where he was going in case of emergencies. If James had known that Myrtle was worried about him seeing her ankle he would have been amused, compared to some of his recent adventures an injured ankle was positively sedate.

He beamed at Cat's glowing recommendation, but it also brought to mind the reason that he had been invited today. "You did say, Lady Alyth, that you wished to discuss the remedies and their place in your budding establishment. What particularly was on you mind?" He enquired politely.

“Really? I couldn’t even imagine someone attending a ball in a kilt,” Mirtel Christabel claimed in surprise. It sounded so delightfully scandalous. She couldn’t help but wonder what Lord Alyth might look like though. Was he as handsome as Cat was beautiful? La, it had to be so Mirtel decided. The lord and lady Alyth just had make the most enchanting couple together.

“I shall certainly keep you in mind and perhaps one day call upon you for council,” Mirtel said with a nod to James as Cat once more praised the man. “La! Don’t put yourself down, Dr. Winchester. I’m sure you’re very engaging and wise company,” Mirtel argued. James had to be smart to have already earned such praise and recognition while he was still so young. So far Mirtel Christabel had always thought that doctors had long bears and bushy eyebrows and always looked ancient like the doctor back home at Chilchester had looked like.

Cat had told her earlier that Dr Winchester would be arriving to discuss business matters with her so when the conversation turned to business, Mirtel smiled and stood to excuse herself. “I must beg my leave now. I still wish to visit the book store before making my way back to the Red Lion Inn to meet my brother for dinner,” Mirtel Christabel excused herself politely.

“Thank you so much for offering me refreshment, Lady Alyth. I shall look forward to seeing you on Saturday. It was a pleasure to meet you as well, Dr Winchester,” Mirtel bid them farewell before turning to leave. Having had a moment to sit and take pressure of her ankle her limp was less noticeable than when Mirtel had first entered the store, but still evident.

OOC: Thank you both so much! *hugs*

Cat laughed at Mirtel's shock. "Well, Lord Alyth is not one to follow trends. He is a man with his own mind," she replied with a smile, though her eyes grew slightly darker as thoughts of how ill Adam had been lately flitting through her mind. She worried about her husband, though he tried hard to make it so she wouldn't find out he was ill.

James' thought that no one would talk about him merely earned him a mysterious smile and a murmured, "We shall see." Cat was certain the doctor would be discussed, even if it was just gossip over which lady was seeking his remedies.

As Mirtel rose, Cat smiled and nodded. "I look forward to Saturday. Hopefully I'll see you before then as well. But if not, until then." She waited while James made his farewells then watched the girl leave. Then she turned to James, turning the conversation to what remedies would be best offered early on in her establishment.
