Give us your Tweets!

Postby Fluff » Tue Apr 24, 2012 10:02 pm

For a tweet only 140 symbols suffice. Most of our quotes of the ovation thread are far too long. We'd like to share the joy of playing in Age of Intrigue. We welcome suggestions for tweets and who knows, they might get send :D

Is this the kind of thing you're looking for? This is shortened from my conversation with the lovely Lady Joanna;

The word 'whispers' sounded malevolent to Eadgar. It implied intrigue, and things he would rather not be dragged into. Certainly not as he had secrets of his own.

It's 135 characters long, if spaces don't count!

Sorry, Twitter says its 22 characters too long :(

It is the kind of quotes I'm looking for though!

Here is one I managed with not a single space to spare:

No, I am to old to twit, tweet or whatever you kids are calling it. You know first hand the drivel that ends up on my FB page.

I, like Nigel’s owner apparently, am also an old fuddy-duddy and abhor Tweeting and Facebook. As an aside I have managed up to now to shun such modern fads so find it ironic that I have been made the administrator for my Company’s Twitter and Facebook pages so am now forced (at proverbial gunpoint) to interact with such Satanic Arts.

If one is a real gentleman or Lady, instead of a texting one should call between one and four to leave one’s card.

I use FaceCult as a glorified address book, and occaisionally check out silly twitter accounts like FMLMcCoy for the amusement factor.

I loved Heather and Nigel's reunion, lovely bit of storytelling. :)

“You are hereby allowed to sorely miss my dazzling company,” - Kane

"I am with two, not one dark handsome men, though I can hardly call them strangers." - Heather

"Ye hae alrairdy met a tall, dark stranger." Douglas assured Kane jokingly. "Ye went drinkin' wi' me." - Douglas

"I doubt many a widow would be willing to commit herself again and give up the freedoms she enjoys." - Heather

“Busy, busy. So many ladies and so little time,” - Kane

I was trying to find some nice, snarky comments from Nigel's dramatic arrival, but we're all too long winded. :P I'll keep looking.

It is so strange being at the King's castle; to see such excess and frivolity, and on such a scale!

Another one from Eadgar, hopefully short enough this time!

Seems like tweeting equals= collecting quotes, asking questions and giving links.

Maybe the followers would like us to put some questions out there, for them to answer. It might make them feel clever/needed = happy. :)

Tweets can be quotes that enthusiasts share (quite a few 17th c historians do that in fact, at the moment AoI is doing a historical figure per day with several quotes, which is a very popular, we get lots of "retweets" or people quoting us in turn), but it can also be the sharing of a picture, or a "tiny link" to a bit of news or a blog post that is on topic. Some take an hour every day to tweet an entire poem, or quote from a historical persons diary (like Pepys). I've pondered posting a very good scene from AoI like that but worry it might be too much spam. So, for AoI original stuff too I stick to small quotes.

Very occasionally, tweets are a conversation, with a person asking a question and getting helpful replies.

In addition, yes there is roleplaying through tweets, including very naughty scenes, although there is also fade to black and then moving to Direct Messaging, as I have witnessed today. Indeed, the Duke of York it seems has taken Mdm de Montespan as his most recent conquest on Twitter, a group of roleplayers that seems to have sprung from the Horrible Histories series. AoI's account is strictly OOC though.

If you are curious you can watch our tweets and retweets here: https://twitter.com/#!/AgeofIntrigue (login is not needed).

Posing a question we don't know the answer to might be interesting. Several historians, as well as museums and stuff who might provide an answer if we ask prettily.

Ooh, there you go! I wasn't expecting that! I think these twitter quotes are a great incentive to make me look over my posts and ensure that they're original and engaging enough; if I think 'That's good enough for twitter', that means I'll be happy with my work!

Dearest Catriona, No, I am not dead. People and their damn gossip. I just heard about your husband. Bugger. Nigel.

All the subtlety and delicacy of a brick, but you can feel the sincerity. Nicely done.
