Book Wish list

Postby Heather O`Roarke » Sun Jun 17, 2012 3:26 pm

I'm still busy reading 1688 and I think that will take me through summer. However, for when I'm finished I'm looking forward to buying new books. Feel free to make suggestions. Anything Stuarts/Restoration/London, both fiction and non-fiction.

Here is one I put on my birthdaylist: http://lareviewofbooks.org/article.php?id=699

*chuckles at the wish list*

The expanse of parishes and docklands east of the Tower of London has historically been viewed as a hotbed of violence, poverty, and intolerance, yet its character and history is far more complicated.

I used to love in East London, and when I first moved there is scared the bejeesuz out of me because of the reasons listed above. But with a few weeks I was happy wandering around late at night without a care in the world. Its amazing how quickly we can adapt to places (especially when we are young enough to feel invincable and not yet old enough to be wise). ;)

As for suggestions, this one is on my wish list. I may treat myself when I get my first full paypacket from the new job. ;)

I preferred Chivarly & Command. What a general took 600 pages to say, a sergeant said in 150. :p

Oh, given how very cheap that one is I'm going to bang in an order for Chivarly & Command right now. It will keep me entertained whilst I save up for the more expensive naval themed purchases. Thanks for the tip off Nigel. ;)

Yours is also a tome, I picked it up in a shop once and decided I didn't have the required strength to carry it home. :ballandchain:

Oh, I know. Bought it in the Horse Guard Museum (hence why the autographed version was available). I put it in my rugsack and regretted it all day while watching the rehearsal of the Trooping of the Colours. Only time I was free of it was when I was waltzing through the Banqueting Hall and practising my curtsies in front of the Throne because my son kindly offered to carry my bag for a while. So, among my less wise holiday purchases but still very content with it ;)
