Our new season is now open: Spring 1677 !
Acting is a skill. While all courtiers are expected to be able to maintain a pleasant mein at all times, the truly accomplished actor or actress can convince her companions of her genuineness of feeling and intention, and exhibit flawless behaviour in most circumstances. Acting will also help you maintain a disguise.
Acting as a Profession
While a few plays were performed by nobility, professional actors and actresses were commoners and therefore largely looked down upon, although certain of them such as Nell Gwynn managed to catch the attention of the nobility. Actresses are favoured as mistress or courtesan.
Attending the Theatre is a popular passtime at court.
