The First Impression & Physical Appearance

Arthur carries himself in a rather confident manner, a swagger to his step that belies a belief that he is the most dangerous person in the room. The blond man is rather charming all smiles and flattery, though there's often an undertone of cynicism. His green eyes often hold a glimmer of mischief.

Arthur stands at five foot six inches and a respectable one hundred and eighty pounds of muscle. His blond hair has been bleached to a near white due to his time out at sea. The thick blond tresses have a slight curl that reach down to his mid chest, though it's often tied back with a green ribbon.The time at sea which bleached his hair has also given him a rather unfortunate tan; his skin only several steps away "bronze". A well groomed blond beard also shows the signs of his extended time in the sun, matching the near white of Arthur's hair. Arthur's callused hands belie the labor he did to achieve his adolescent goals.

Arthur tends to follow most of the latest fashions, though only in the cut of his clothes. The former privateer doesn't add many of the accents and embellishments of the courts, believing the less is more in the matters of clothing. When social situations permit he has his cutlass from a rather memorable looting of a Scottish merchant vessel sheathed on his left hip. The basket hilt has the celtic tree of life etched into it, with the negative spaces of the pattern open air. Five small silver hoop earrings adorn each earlobe. Should he be seen with his shirt off, a tattoo of a swallow can be found on the right and left sides of his ribcage as well as scars of being whipped upon his back.

Personality

Arthur feels that life owes him more than he's been given, as such he's often pressing his luck more than any reasonable man might consider. Resentful of those above him, spiteful of those below him, the former privateer is unsure of where he belongs. He's selfish when he's the only one with chips on the table, but should people throw their chips in with him they'll find that he's very generous; so long as they keep their chips in. He enjoys seeing those above him beg and plead, especially women.

Recess IV - June-7th October

After Restoration Day, Arthur hit a bit of a melancholy slump, though he was fairly quick to rebound and the next couple weeks saw the captain improve has he got back to his original mission, attempting to build a 'trade' empire. Looking into the possible purchase of a small Barony so that he'd have a legitimate title as well as another source of income. Money equaled power after all.

The fact that so many courtiers had left to pursue their own goals made it difficult for Arthur to achieve his; so once the Harem returned from France he was back aboard and back in control of his ship. Setting sail for Africa the blond captain felt truly alive again. The first couple days at sea Arthur saw some of his men practicing their marksmanship with pistol and carbine on empty bottles hung from rigging with ropes.

Edward, the Harem's first mate and former captain, saw Arthur's interest and was quick to offer a bet; first to hit a bottle would win half a share of the others loot from the next take. Arthur quickly agreed, unable to refuse a 'challenge'. Having never fired a pistol Arthur missed horribly, though Edward hit his on the first try. Thus Arthur began to practice to use a pistol, just to not be shown up again.

During one practice session a stray shot ricocheted of a steel band on the main mast, striking the captain in his left shoulder. Claiming victory for an impossible shot, Arthur claimed a silver torc as his prize. The surgeon commented that his captain was lucky that the shot hadn't broken his collarbone, simply bruised it; though his wound was likely going to scar. Ordered on bed rest to aid in healing, Arthur fought cabin fever by reorganizing his entire cabin and looking for whatever the hell the Duke of Clarence had hidden on his ship.

After the healing was done Arthur had acquired a rather interesting scar, an almost perfect ring of scar tissue were the ball had struck him. With October approaching, Captain Kinsington set sail back to England, all the courtiers he needed to ensure he didn't end up hanging from a gallows were going to be in Windsor after all. With his ship sailing up the Thames, Arthur simply departed on a dingy with several men to carry his chest. Unsure of where to stay, Arthur simply went to the castle to see about the possibility of receiving a room....

Ship Description

The Queen's Harem is a fifth rate, twenty-six gun, three mast frigate.

The figure head of the Harem is an exquisitely carved mermaid of Oak. Bare chested, the buxom creature holds a trident with square tines in an en guard position.

The Harem armament of twenty-six cannons are allocated mostly on the gun deck. Twenty nine-pound cannons are situated on the gun deck, ten on each side. The aft-castle has two three pound cannons on the port and starboard sides. The forecastle has two nine pound cannons, both of which are set up on a pivot that allows 130 degrees of movement along the sides of the ship. Locks have been emplaced at 0 degrees and 90 degrees for firing over the bow as well as committing the guns to a broad side.

The aftcastle and upper deck are painted a matte black with the trim painted a gloss black.
