Our new season is now open: Spring 1677 !
Candles are a large staple product used in lightening rooms, hallways etc. after dark. They are used on chandeliers in big hallways, or on candelabras on tables. Large candle holders in the corners of rooms might add additional lightening. On the streets they are used in hand held lanterns.
Candles are typically firm in size, burning up to 10 hours, and sometimes even thicker allowing them to burn even longer. While on the one hand they spread a little bit of soot, candles are also lightly fragrant. At Court they would have been made of a good quality bees wax, burning brightly and giving fairly good light.
