Background

A highly talented Goldsmith and Gem Cutter by training and trade, Julius has earned an excellent reputation and a great deal of money as the owner of Casterbridge Fine Jewellers. Julius was born the elder son of a skilled Gem Cutter. He had apprenticed with his uncle, a Goldsmith, and thus became conversant in both aspects of the family business.

He had eventually married the daughter of another local merchant, and together they had produced a son and two daughters. His son, however, showed neither inclination nor aptitude for the trade. Alarmingly, it was his two now teen-aged daughters who showed interest in the family business.

It has been his goal to elevate his family from merchants to gentry, with the first step being the purchase of a baronetcy. That, Sir Julius has now accomplished; a most excellent way to begin 1676.
