Moderators can use my NPCs?

Q. So you mean to say that if a moderator uses a character from my background as an NPC I have no say over how they are played?

A. In a nutshell, yes. The more information you provide about a background NPC in your characters history the more information we have to work with. Since NPC's originating in a characters backgrounds tend to appear for a reason (usually related to a juicy plot) late changes in their personality and reaction to other people can outwardly affect a storyline. While you are allowed to suggest changes in your Player compendium, especially details that will provide a bit more colour, the moderators have to approve significant changes.

Much like real life you can never effectively say what lies around the next corner or exactly what your best friend will say in any given situation. We all like to think that we have a fair idea but at times we are all surprised by other peoples actions. Despite knowing someone well you can never be sure of all their secrets and motivations. Because of this once a NPC is brought into play they remain under the control of the moderating team.
