Young Dukes

This is a nick name for William Seymour, 3rd Duke of Somerset, James Scott, Duke of Monmouth and Christopher Monck, Duke of Albemarle. The Young Dukes and their company roamed the streets of London, wearing masks and being full of mischief. The young dukes were in their late teens and considered vast friends. By the year 1675 the first crumbling of this boyhood friendship came to light.

Upon the death of William Seymour during one of their tours of London in May 1675 the group fell apart. Shortly thereafter Louis Killington, the Earl of Basildon, said to have been part of the company of dukes, married William's sister Elisabeth.
