Physical Attributes
Lean physique, while possessing the Chesterford good looks, James is pale having spent most of his time indoors and often has ink stains upon his fingers. He wears well tailored clothing in the negligent manner of one who does no take great pains with his appearance. He stands 5'11 tall, is of pleasant if recalcitrant demeanour.
Initial Impression of Personality
A prudent and studious individual, cautiously spoken. His reserved nature belies the fact that he does possess ambition, when attending events he conducts himself with due decorum. During the Spring '75 Season he displayed a playful side, competing in the Rapier Tournament.
Chesterford Peerage
Edward Chesterford, 1st Earl and the 7th Baron of Chesterford. Edward weathered the Commonwealth by keeping a low profile without actually supporting it in any real manner. Upon the Restoration Edward was noticed and rewarded for assistance in preparations for the return of the monarchy.

Background
James ambitions lay in the fields of sciences with a desire to be invited to join the Royal Society. He has predominant interest in biology, but has studied also under Thomas Hobbes at Oxford, which he entered in 1668. The eldest of 6, James came into his title in early 1675 whereupon he found it necessary to leave his studies until he came to terms with his new responsibilities as Earl.
Family
- He has three brothers, two in the Navy; Walter(26), Henry was killed in battle in April '76 at the age of 24. With a youngest in the Church; Percival(19)
- He has two sisters; Elizabeth got married in 1671, to Samuel Linton, the third son of Lord Brinkley, and they reside at the family estate not ten miles from Chesterford and have a new baby boy. And then there is Darlene Chesterford (18).
He was pursuing a relationship with a view to marriage with Lady Pricilla, but this ended during the fall of 1675 for reasons unknown. He is currently engaged to Grace St. John, grand daughter to the Duke of Newcastle.
